Membership & Commission Update - FAQ
We’re committed to continuing to invest in the growth of our marketplace — bringing more buyers to Chairish, improving discovery, and helping you sell more successfully. Below are answers to common questions about our upcoming membership updates.
What is changing?
Beginning April 1, 2026, commission rates for the Plus and Premium membership tiers will be updated:
Plus will move from 20% tiered commission to 22% flat commission
Premium will move from 22% flat commission to 25% flat commission
All other membership tiers remain unchanged.
Will my commission change if I am an Elite, Platinum, Professional, Newly Made, or Consignor seller?
No. Commission rates for these membership tiers are not changing.
Is there a way to avoid the commission increase?
Yes. Sellers may choose to upgrade their membership tier:
Plus members may upgrade to Platinum and their commission rate will remain unchanged.
Premium members may move to Plus and their commission rate will remain unchanged.
Upgrading allows you to transition into the corresponding commission structure associated with that tier.

Do I have to participate in auctions if I join Platinum?
No. Auction participation is optional.
If you join Platinum but prefer not to participate in auctions, you may opt out at the account level.
Can I opt specific listings out of auctions?
Auction participation is managed at the account level rather than per individual listing. Your team can help you choose the setting that works best for your business.
What if I have an active annual Plus or Premium membership?
Your membership term will continue as planned. However, commission rates will align with the updated structure beginning on the effective date.
If you'd prefer to transition to Platinum sooner, you may upgrade at any time.
Does Platinum include private sales?
Private sales are not a standard feature of the Platinum tier.
However, we understand that some sellers rely heavily on private sales as part of their business model. In certain cases, we can work with sellers individually to determine the right membership tier that supports their needs. Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager if you’d like to discuss your situation.
Is there an annual option for Platinum?
Platinum is currently offered on a monthly basis.
Is there a minimum listing requirement to join Platinum?
No. There is no minimum listing requirement to join Platinum.

As we continue to invest in technology, marketing, and new selling channels like auctions, we periodically review our commission structure to ensure we can sustainably support those improvements.
These updates allow us to continue driving high-intent traffic to your listings while maintaining a strong, vibrant marketplace for both buyers and sellers.
