Ten Design-Inspired Blogs You Should Read

Whether you’re designing a space, gathering ideas for future projects, or looking for design advice, the internet is an excellent resource for finding what you need. At Dering Hall, we continue to be inspired by the design community’s diversity and creativity in architecture, interior design, home décor and all things design. Exploring design-inspired blogs can be extremely helpful in drawing inspiration for new projects and gaining insight into the vast design landscape.

 

Here are 10 of our favorite design inspiration blogs (in no particular order):

 

1. Aestate

Founded in 2013 by Gregory de Harlez and Julien Van Havere, Aestate is an inspirational online resource focused on interior design and architecture. Their content primarily features design projects and articles regarding homes, hotels, offices, restaurants and stores from across the globe.

 

2. Design Milk

Founded by Jaime Derringer, Design Milk is an online magazine dedicated to modern design including the latest in art, architecture, interior design, furniture and décor, fashion and technology. Design Milk produces articles and editorial on a regular basis, and offer an editorial calendar for users to submit content.  They maintain a strong following on their website and social media platforms–including over 2 million followers on Instagram.

 

3. Remodelista

Remodelista positions themselves as “the one-stop sourcebook for the considered home, guiding readers artfully through the remodeling and design process.” Remodelista features guides and resources dedicated to everything from kitchen and bath to home furnishings and remodeling.

 

4. Decorist

Founder and CEO Gretchen Hansen created Decorist to inspire design for those who are looking to create beautiful spaces while staying within their budget. She emphasizes the idea of giving spaces a personal look and feel, rather than something out of a magazine. Some of their main content topics are Behind the Design, Before and After, Designer Spotlight and Design Trends.

 

5. MyDomaine

MyDomaine is an online publisher of chic lifestyle inspiration and advice, with a dedicated section on home décor and interior design. They publish stories involving behind the scenes renovations, celebrity homes, and expert advice on furniture and design elements to incorporate into your home.

 

6. My Scandanavian Home

Founded by Niki Brantmark, London-native turned Swedish resident, My Scandinavian Home is a daily blog focused on beautiful Scandinavian interior design. Niki is highly knowledgeable on the aesthetics associated with Scandinavian design and takes readers through numerous house tours where she breaks down the elements and characteristics of the spaces she encounters.

 

7. Design*Sponge

Design*Sponge is a daily lifestyle blog run by Grace Bonney. This site focuses on the creative community, and goes beyond the surface to highlight the people behind the art and design–including their struggles, triumphs, and real life concerns. Design*Sponge features insightful editorial along with beautiful photography that is viewed all across the globe and reaches over 2 million readers per month.

 

8. Amber Interiors

Amber Lewis initially started Amber Interiors as a small interior design blog focused on her experiences as a first-time homeowner. The blog has since grown into a successful design and build firm with clients all over America. The website primarily focuses on taking readers through tailor-made redesigns and makeovers that fit the style, space and budget of their clients.

 

 

9. Emily Henderson

Emily Henderson is a stylist, author and television host on HGTV. Her blog is dedicated to providing design inspiration and advice, with focus on achieving stylish home designs on moderate budgets.

 

 

10.  At Home: Joanna Gaines

Joanna Gaines, owner of Magnolia Market and host on HGTV’s hit remodeling show “Fixer Upper,” provides some helpful design tips and project ideas in addition to complete walkthroughs of remodels and makeovers. There is also a D-I-Y (do-it-yourself) section which provides interesting ideas to implement your own personal design touch into your home décor.
