Dering Hall features the incredible work of our members in our editorial section, which is called The Daily Journal. We write articles, including house tours, product round-ups, event coverage and more, that showcase the beautiful projects and products of our designer talents. We aim to include as many members as possible in these features. Below are 5 tips to help you better connect your design work with our editors.

1. Tag Your Images With the Correct Room & Style Type

To ensure that your images appear in the appropriate sections of the lookbook, make sure that you have chosen a room and style type that accurately describes your image. Incorrectly tagging images means that they may be missed when the editorial team is sourcing for stories. Please do not over-tag images in an effort to increase the places they appear. This is frustrating to editors and users alike. The image above, from Savery Design, was tagged as "Kitchen" and "Contemporary" and was featured in our 30 Sleek Contemporary Kitchens article.

2. Add a Caption Describing Your Photo

Providing a caption that describes relevant details about the image makes it more searchable on Dering Hall. This is especially helpful when the editorial team is working on a story around a very specific theme. The image above, from Smith Firestone Associates, included the caption: "Private Residence Breakfast Nook - Hollywood Hills, California." It was included in the article 12 Cheery Breakfast Nooks.

3. Upload the Best Quality Imagery

Dering Hall’s editorial requires high quality imagery. You can increase your opportunity for inclusion in editorial by uploading the best visuals of your work. This means that the images should be crisp and clear and not blurry. They should be hi-res and ideally shot with a professional camera. The image above, from Tom Stringer Design Partners, was featured in the article 30 Kitchens with Statement Ceiling Lighting.

4. Upload New Images & Projects

As you complete projects, upload the imagery to your profile. The more imagery you have, the greater opportunity you have to be featured in editorial. This will also ensure that your profile is fresh and up-to-date. The image above, from Marks & Frantz, showcases a recently completed summer home by the firm and was featured in the article Inside a Colorful Nantucket Home.

5. Let Us Know When You Are Participating in Events

We like to promote events, including showhouses, trade shows, panels, etc., that our members are involved with. We can support these events in various ways, including on social media and in blog posts, so make sure to provide your account manager with the details. The image above shows the bedroom that Wesley Moon designed for this summer's Holiday House Hamptons showhouse and was featured in the article Holiday House Hamptons Presented by HC&G Returns to Water Mill.
